13 Workplace Analytics Every IT Leader Should Track

The workplace – and how we work – is changing at a crazy pace. It's hard to keep up with the mind-blowing variety of tools and technology available to companies today.

Many of these solutions focus on collaboration. There’s a good reason for that: Collaboration is the foundation of many innovative businesses. But it can also be expensive. There’s the time spent scheduling and holding meetings, and the space and resources needed to bring people together.

We also recognize that no single solution should do everything for your office. So today we are excited to announce our new API, to help create the connections and transparency between the systems that drive collaboration in your organization.

API Opens the Door to Possibilities

Although the average end user may not be aware of it, APIs are often the foundation for modern web and mobile experiences, including many of the services used by highly productive, integrated offices.

The real power of an API is when talented developers are given documented access to data and are able to create their own interactions to augment the platform.

With the recent release of our new dashboard, which segments meeting space by rooms, floors, buildings and campuses, the time is right to offer the opportunity for other developers to build awesome things on top of it.

Our interactive public API documentation lets you create test tokens, make API calls and see their output. The API currently includes endpoints for Reservations, Rooms and Users.

  • Reservations allows you to get/create/update/delete events from your own interfaces, which is especially handy for companies that use Go Links for internal pages and systems.

  • Rooms allows you to get a list of rooms, plus information about a specific room.

  • Users conforms to SCIM so you can easily provision user accounts through scripting.

For example, a coworking space that handles reservations through a system other than EventBoard could use the Rooms and Reservations endpoints to tie the two systems together, so they can use EventBoard displays to show reservations made through the other system.

Safe Access to Data

Security is top priority when it comes to API access, so we've implemented OAuth 2.0 for authentication and authorization.

OAuth protects an end user's account information by restricting access to data, giving third-party services access via tokens and API scopes without exposing the user's password. You might think of it as a gatekeeper that guards all the users’ data.

In addition, the API is served over HTTPS to ensure data privacy; unencrypted HTTP is not supported.
